Halloween: Candy Queen

My friends little sister Alex (who is 6) knows who Misty Maven is since she has seen photos of me in drag many times, & has seen me in face/wig probably two or three times when I was working with her sister on projects. She only asked once why I was wearing everything & I replied with “I dress up for fun & can be whatever I want to be as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else” she said, “okay!” & never asked again. Either way she absolutely loves it & always asks if I have new photos whenever I see her, but what little girl (besides my sister) doesn’t love loads of makeup, glitter, & big hair?

I asked her what she was going to be for Halloween & she quickly jumped up shouting “MISSY MAVEN!” I didn’t correct her on the name but asked why she wanted to be that, & she snapped back with my own saying “I can be whatever I want as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone”. Can’t argue there! But I told her M. is pretty boring so she should be dressed up as something else as Misty, plus what random person is going to know what she’s dressed up as if she just says Misty Maven? After bugging her by asking about things she likes, candy & princesses were at the top of the list so the candy princess was now her costume. I told her sister I would help make her costume & crown, then when I opened up requests for Halloween a few of you asked for something candy related. I merged the two & came up with the look below.

Hey, it’s better than just putting some candy sprinkles on my lips & claiming to be “original & artistic” am I right?
You get a tutorial, a 6 year old girl gets a pretty *sweet* crown made out of candy so it’s win/win, no? ;)

Sparkling Soot

“I look up into the night sky and see a thousand eyes staring back, & all around these golden beacons, I see nothing but black!!”

I love that song! Anyway, it’s been a while since I did a “Josh” look. If you take a look at some of my tutorials you can tell the “Josh” looks apart from the others. They’re something I would wear out and about if I decided I wanted to wear makeup for the night. I get really into the look & they all look similar; dark, super dramatic, & with lots of lash!!

Truly Truly Outrageous!

When I did Truly Outrageous! the bright bold colors put me in the mood for more bright colors. After doing this look I think I have to keep it going since a truly truly truly outrageous is needed. We’ll see about that, but chances are good it’ll happen haha! Not much else to say about the look besides it’s annoyingly bright, and hella easy to replicate. Enjoy!

Neutral-ish-ness.

Lately I’ve been loving bright obnoxious colors. But decided to do something neutral, or close to it. I’ve been getting 893043243 requests for a “Back to School” look, but what makes a look one that is considered back to school all depends on the person wearing it. One person wants neutral, one want to look like a drag queen, and another wants a combination of the two. Labeling a look for back to school and having it be neutral, or having it be crazy bright is saying “only this is acceptable” but not every school has the same rules when it comes to dress code and makeup.
A lot of the videos I already have on my channel can be used as a back to school look, including the few neutral tutorials I already have posted. This is why you won’t ever see “back to school” in the title of my videos (unless I’m joking).

This look can be used for anyone because it’s neutral(ish), but instead of brown I use burgundy. Like any other look you can switch the colors up, switch the color placement, whatever you want! Maybe your eyes are closer together, put the burgundy on the outside corner of your crease. Maybe you think burgundy makes you look “sick”, use a brown, or a green, a blue.. It’s up to you.

Greensmoke

A very quick & simple way to achieve a toned down smoked out look. Normally when I do a smoky eye for myself I extend the color out, I love the drama it creates. But once in a while you want something a little more toned down. This also helps those who want to try smoking out their shadows for the first time but don’t want the “drag queen going to the club” look that I go for, hah! Truly Outrageous!

I recorded a tutorial, and while editing I realized it looked almost identical to my Emerald Dragon look, instead of posting it and saying “this is the same thing with dupes” I decided to just record something new. While recording the colors reminded me of something stereotypically girlie because of the colors I was using. It also started to remind me of a long Jem shirt my sister wore pretty much every day during the 80’s. Sometimes it was a shirt, sometimes she would belt it into a dress, other times it was tied in a knot on the side… Typical 80’s! So that’s where the name came from, since Jem really is truly outrageous! Maybe I’ll do a look inspired by Pizzazz next…. You never know!

Blue Canary

Supa short description: I did this look on Jasmine, wanted to do a tutorial for it, so I did.

Jasmine did her own version using products that are similar to create her look, check that out here.

Velvet-Purple Coronet

With imagination and the Barney Bag, we’ll see what we can make today!! Hah.

I needed to think of a color combination to do for this tutorial, so I asked people on my Facebook page to name a color. I took first 25 responses, and used the most popular color from those 25 suggestions. They picked green. I did the same thing for Twitter but this time purple came out on top. So those were the 2 main colors for my look. I had find a way to make it not look like Barney though, especially since that color combination is easily associated with the big purple lump of love. There’s not much else to say about the look besides the fact I added more black to the look after I finished recording. What can I say, I like my eyeshadow DARRRRKK!!

Day ‘n’ Night!

This is part two of the other video I posted on Tuesday. I turn the daytime/neutral look into something a little more (me!) dramatic. During recording the first video and this one I recorded a lip tutorial on how to perfect lip color, and decided to leave that color on to show how just changing something as simple as the lips can change the whole look. Then you also see how it looks with the more dramatic eye, which shows you can create a multitude of looks just by tweaking the products you already have on. Product list and photos after the jump.

Try it and have fun with it!
